Tyson James: It's a Boy!

Onesie & Chalk Sign: Target | Queen & King T- Shirts: Etsy

Early on in my pregnancy I knew that I wanted a boy. I had always dreamed of being a boy mom. I never have been the girliest; even though I work in cosmetics. I was an athlete for the majority of my younger years. That meant working hard, sweating, spending long hours at the ballpark and sacrificing sleepovers and birthday parties so that I could do what I loved: play softball. So when I found out we were having a boy I was over the moon. And so was Antonio! He decided that he really wanted a girl, but when he found out he jumped around and said, "I'm gonna have a boy!" So needless to say we are both pretty happy about the news.

Finding Out: I decided to have gender and genetic testing done My doctor told me that I was going to have gender and genetic testing done around 8 weeks. So I did. I completed the blood work and patiently waited the 2 weeks. I decided that after 2 weeks of not hearing anything that I would reach out. Aka I got extreme anxiety about the genetic testing and wanted to make sure everything was okay. Long story short: they never took the blood work for the genetic & gender testing. Fast forward to 16 weeks along - yes 8 weeks later - we finally got the call that we were having a boy and that the genetic testing came back great

Would I suggest getting the blood test done? Yes, but only if you have a reliable doctor and doctors office. I have since then left my doctor for a free standing birth center. The differences are huge and the service is unbeatable. (A post coming soon on why we chose a birth center over a hospital)

Choosing A Name: Antonio and I are pretty stubborn people. Like really stubborn and neither of us like to back down. So choosing a name was something we did almost immediately. We bantered back and forth for a few days and finally landed on the name Tyson James. I liked the fact that he could personalize his name to be whatever he wanted. If he wants to go by "Ty" or "TJ" or even "James" I'm all for it! I also love the way it sounds with Antonio's last name. Antonio has been saying it's a strong name, which I totally agree with too.

Announcing: When I purchased these shirts I didn't know I was pregnant and honestly they were kind of a joke. Antonio calls me his queen so I thought it would be perfect to have matching shirts. Luckily they actually ended up being used! So when the time came we ran to Target and Antonio picked out a three pack of onesies including the one we have pictured. I picked up the little chalkboard from the $1 section at Target and personalized it was the words, "Oh baby, baby!" just like the Salt 'N Peppa song. (The 90's will never die) You can see our announcement photo on Instagram here!

Until next time,

<3 Fallon, Antonio & Tyson
